MANHATTAN BEACH2017
JAMES RESIDENCE
This 3500-sf single family residence sits at the top of the historic sand dune that created the Manhattan Beach "Sand section".
This prominent perch gives the house unusually dramatic views stretching from Palos Verdes to Santa Monica, and the four-level home is designed to maximize those views.
The kitchen, dining, and living rooms comprise the "great room" on the top floor, and the bedrooms and garage occupy the middle levels.
In the basement, a "man cave" with a frameless glass wine cellar, a home theater and an outdoor spa complete the program.
A wood and steel, switch back stair connects the four levels around a floating fire place and saltwater aquarium and a skin of bleached Cumaru clads the building in beautiful wood.
